Welcome to the Advanced Airman page.

Imagine yourself...working on one of the Navy's hottest hotrods-the Tomcat or the
new SuperHornet. Or perhaps a helocopter that flies under the cover of darkness and zooms a mere 30 feet above the desert
floor-delivering the Navy Seals on thier next mission.
Do you have what it takes to make & keep that bird flying at optimum speed,
mission after mission? Yeah, I know...Pilots get all the high fives at the air shows and in the movies.
But the real truth is, if it were not for maintanance ("maintainers") professionals
behind the scenes, airports would just be a huge parking lot for plane repairs.
Fact: The Blue Angels Maintainers can change out and replace a F-18 Hornet engine
in a matter of 3-5 hours!!
The goal of Advanced Airman is to bring you closer and deeper into the Airframe and
Powerplants, deeper understanding of what it takes to keep a Navy multi-million dollar aircraft flying with regards to maintanance.
Cadets will work on tear-downs, buildups of engines. Learn to work with
sheetmetal, airframe componets & the ability to look up parts and fastners, nuts & bolts...using technical manuals
and illustrations.
