ALL HANDS,
Its good to finally to send you some good news and tell you personally what a great time and
hopefully a great experience for you that are participating in Advanced Airman at NAS JAX.
Planning and organzing events take time and alot of red tape and legal issues have to be covered
for some of the simplest things to happen. So with that in mind, things can change at a moment notice. As your
Commanding Officer, I ask that you be patient and show your NSCC professionalism in dealing with matters that might go "south"
as they say.
At the moment-I am happy to report that Advanced Airman will be one of the FIRST & very few
outside civilians to be working at the NADEP installation here in NAS Jacksonville.
You will be working in small groups(1-2) alongside Civilian employees and Contractors helping
either tearing down or reinstalling actual aircraft components on either the P-3 Orion, S-3 Viking or something in between.
You the Cadets, are going to be working on real US Navy aircrafts, in which you need to come
prepared with your best working effort, conscientous and focused at all times.
Working around engines, aircraft strutures requires you to be dillengent in and around them.
As you might remember from Basic Airman at AIMD-all it takes is something small to be ingested (FOD) into the engine-and BAM...a
compressor stall will blow the engine apart. Then Uncle Sam has to open his check book to fix that $700
(P-3 Orion) -1.5 (F-18 SuperHornet) million dollar engine.
When reporting to Advance Airman at NAS Jax, I EXPECT YOU...to come with
your best work ethics, your best pride and your best "CAN DO" attitude.
I EXPECT YOU...to be a "CUT ABOVE" all the other cadets you ever met in your Sea Cadet Career. You've all been to Basic Airman- I EXPECT you...to lead by example when others are around you-especially the BASIC Airman CADETS!!!
I cannot stress this enuff-that your actions and your lack of motivation
will "KILL" this program in a heartbeat while working at NADEP. This class, AV-F2
is the first class to ever work at NADEP. Alot of work, phone calls, meeting with lawyers had to be done by the Regional
Director, LCDR June Tillet to get this done and signed off.
I cannot tell you enuff-and will gurantee you one thing while your at NADEP...all
EYES will be on you because of the uniform you will be wearing as your working here-including Captain Beck, who personally
pushed and signed this evolution to happen.
On to other things, I have not recieved from most of selected cadets...the 2 important documents
that were to be sent in with the training orders.
They are the "Rules of Conduct" and the "Flight
Hold Harmless Agreement" which needs to be signed by your parents and sent in ASAP.
These are located under the Advanced Airman page at the bottom...simply copy/paste and print
them out.

Regarding the Sea Bag list: please make sure you have STEEL TOE BOOTS and Coveralls with all
flashes and ratings attached.
If you are not sure on where or dont have the flashes and name tapes-please consult your CO and
ask him to order them and get them sewn on asap- training starts less then 60 days!!!
Flight suits are encouraged to bring-Im not worried about the olive drab flashes-but if you want
to wear them (again see your CO about ordering them) I would suggest getting the patches and adding the velcro sewn to
the flight suit above the pockets to add the patches you would like to wear. I will not be providing these velcro or
the sewing service...
DO THIS BEFORE YOU COME TO TRAINING.
That is all for now...I will email you all again in a few weeks to give you more updates here
at this website page. I encourage you all to email me anytime with questions or directions.
Regards
